Genres of Punk

Dieselpunk is a style and a budding sub-culture that combines the zeitgeist of the interbellum period through World War II and ending before or at the early 1950s with postmodern sensibilities from a counter-cultural viewpoint.

Two game designers, without knowledge of each other, independently created Dieselpunk in the same year.

In 2002, game designer Lewis Pollak coined the term ‘dieselpunk’ as a part of marketing his role-playing game Children of the Sun. (Source: Discovering Dieselpunk by Nick Ottens and Mr. Piecraft)

That same year, Anders Blixt created the role-playing game Lemuria for which he also coined the term ‘dieselpunk’. (Source: Dieselpunks.org, Anders Blixt: Dieselpunk Pioneer)

Since those games, dieselpunk has grown to describe a distinct style of visual art, music, motion pictures, fiction, and engineering.
